Dr. Yasna Yilorm

I have been a teacher of English since 1995, working with students of different ages and cultural backgrounds in Chile and the United States. Currently, I serve as an English Language Didactics professor at Universidad Austral de Chile. My academic background includes a Master’s in Education, TESOL concentration, from Shenandoah University, USA, and a Doctorate in Pedagogical Sciences from Universidad de Matanzas, Cuba. I am also a RICELT member and a coordinator of the Red de Estudios Interdisciplinarios en Infancia: Género, Inclusión y Justicia Social.

My research focuses on playful and multisensory inclusive teaching practices, particularly in supporting socially vulnerable students’ socio-affective and communicative skills in the EFL classroom. I have been granted scientific and social action projects, including FONDECYT de Iniciación (N°11191193, 2019-2022) and “Playing with my Senses in English” (MIDESO, 2018). My studies have been conducted primarily in public schools with children in critical social vulnerability and with EFL teachers managing serious critical incidents in their educational contexts.

As an author and researcher, I have written multiple articles on English Language Teaching (ELT) in Chile and published the book Let’s Go for English in 100 Fun Ways, released by the Cuban Ministry of Higher Education in 2015. Additionally, I have been a plenary speaker at numerous national and international scientific and pedagogical events.

Since 2017, I have led socio-educational programs in SENAME and Mejor Niñez institutions, reinforcing my commitment to inclusive education and equity. My dedication to these areas has inspired me to participate in MyThirdTeacher, where I aim to contribute my expertise in inclusive and playful teaching methodologies to create meaningful learning experiences that empower both students and educators.
